About The Ministry
Malawi, known as “the warm heart of Africa,” is home to more than 15 million people, many of whom live in small villages as subsistence farmers. Despite the hospitality and resilience of its people, Malawi faces significant challenges, including one of the poorest health care systems in the world. Government run hospitals are understaffed, underfunded, and lack essential medications and supplies. Malaria is widespread, maternal mortality rates remain among the highest globally, and nearly 10 percent of the population is affected by HIV.
Blessings Hospital serves as a critical source of medical care in this region, providing life saving treatment to individuals who would otherwise have little to no access to health services. The need is great, and the impact of faithful medical ministry is profound.
How We Are Serving
The Sara Walker Foundation’s involvement with Blessings Hospital began through a Spirit led calling placed on Jenni Whitefield, a board member and dear friend of Sara Walker, who served on a medical mission trip to Malawi in 2012. Through shared connections and God’s provision, this work expanded into a lasting partnership alongside the Chikondi Health Foundation.
Through this partnership, the Foundation helped fund the completion of the Sara Walker Village, which houses missionaries serving at Blessings Hospital each year. We have also provided financial assistance for Lipscomb University nursing students to participate in medical mission trips and fully funded a mobile medical unit that delivers care, supplies, and transportation to remote villages. Through these efforts, God is changing lives and reaching souls across Malawi, and we are humbled to be part of His work.
