"Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for Me."
The Sara Walker Foundation is a nonprofit organization, whose mission is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Holy Bible, as well as minister to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals around the world. We were established in December 2012, four months after Sara Walker passed away from a courageous battle with cancer. It is our goal to continue her legacy of providing encouragement to those that are lost and hurting in this world. The board of directors is comprised of Sara's physical family, church family, and Physical Therapy colleagues; all who share the mission of continuing Sara's passion for His Kingdom.
Since our establishment, God has allowed us to provide financial aid for medical and education missions to Malawi, Africa. He has also allowed us to fund the completion of the Sara Walker Village, which houses those missionaries, specifically for work with Blessings Hospital and Mtendere Orphanage. Through this foundation, God has helped us to fully fund a mobile medical unit, providing much needed medical care and supplies to the remote villages surrounding Blessings Hospital. In 2016, we embarked on a new partnership with The Pearl House in Ghana, Africa. The Pearl House is the home of 20 young women, who are rescued from their dire proverty and given a Christian education to aid them into becoming upstanding members of their communities. Through this partnership, God has allowed us to aid in the completion of the girls' new home as well as a designated room called The Sara Walker Library, where these girls can study their lessons and have the necessary tools to complete school assignments for maximizing their learning potential. We are grateful for the opportunities that God has provided in all of these mission efforts.
In addition to the overseas missions that we support, the Sara Walker Foundation has also begun a partnership with Belmont University School of Physical Therapy in their establishment of the Sara Walker Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to 3rd year students who exhibit many of the same outstanding qualities demonstrated by Sara Walker during her time as a student at Belmont. The first two recipients of the scholarship will be graduating from Belmont University School of Physical Therapy in August 2017. We are grateful for the opportunity to aid these two young scholars in their efforts in becoming skilled Physical Therapists.
We find no coincidence in the fact that Sara's earthly battle ended and she received her heavenly reward on 8/28/12. Therefore, the Foundation lives by His promise in Romans 8:28, that "all things work together for good, for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose."
